Choosing a Wedding/Reception Location

Choosing a Wedding and/or Reception Location is one of the biggest decisions You as a Bride or Groom will make, and one of the costliest! Here are some helpful hints as you search for the perfect site…

I. Major Considerations
1) How many guests can and will you seat…comfortably?
2) What time of Year? (weather, indoor/outdoor, alternate plans)
3) What Style or Theme of Wedding? (Elegant, Country, Etc.)
4) What type of Entertainment will you have?
5) What is your Budget?

II. Helpful Hints

1) Consider your locations from these perspectives…

a) Your Guests'…Does this location offer anything for them other than the fact you are there? A walk on the beach, a view of the golf course, gardens to enjoy. Will their children be invited, and is there room to roam? Are there special rates or nearby accommodations for out-of-towners?

b) The Photographers'…Does the location offer good backgrounds, a varied assortment of looks? Is there sufficient lighting both indoors and out? Are there spots suitable for Theme Photos - something to match your theme or "look" (Staircase, garden, fireplace, or pillars)?

c) The Florists'… Do they have to over-decorate due to the four-wall look? Is that in your budget? Do the colors match or clash your wedding and theme? 

d) The Disc-Jockeys'…Is there a comfortable place to position your M.C. and Music Master? Will the loudness of your music overwhelm the guests closest to the dance floor?

III. More Tips… 
1) Get every promise the site manager makes ON PAPER! 
2) Ask for references, call to find out the quality of service.
3) Find out who will be responsible if something goes wrong.
4) Get a special deal…they're out there….always ask!
